I wrote in this thread previously that I'd date a smoker.
I revise that. After recently seeing someone who is probably THE MOST chronic chain smoker I've ever been around (although a considerate smoker, I will say) I will no longer date a smoker. Sorry, but really being anywhere near the smoke gives me headaches and I just don't like the smell that lingers on their clothes and skin.
I'm with you on that one. I've never smoked and no one in the family does. I've tried to date those who do, but kissing just isn't that fresh and if that's not good, I just don't care to go f*arther. (Yes, f*arther was banned by the BK idiots.)
And another thing. I watched my ex's grandfather (who was one of the most incredible men I've ever known) die of lung cancer. He never smoked. Even WITH the cancer, he was healthy as hell. I watched Grandmother sit at his bedside through his last hours. Now she is alone at 85 and doing her best to move forward after a 60+ year marriage.
Beings we know smoking is a huge cause of lung cancer, I don't care to spend my later years in life sitting at a bedside. Don't care to lose my husband because he consistantly did something in his younger years that he knew had a big chance of killing him. It seems selfish to place your loved one in that position just for a bad habit you wouldn't cut.
Great points ladies.
I've been a smoker for 30 years now, in great shape considering the milage and abuse I've put this soul-shell through, but it's going to catch up with me for sure one day.
The smokeing has cost me tons of money, lot's of breath, and most importantly.. I'm sure I've had more then a few good ladies who didn't consider me because of the smokeing.
So I've cut down from about 3 packs a day (hows that for chronic smoking?) to less then a pack a day and hope to go cold turkey soon.
You'll know I did it if you meet me on the road..
I'll be the rider with his fingernails chewed down to his wrists.
